Just wanted to let you know how good the
clinic at Anglesea was today. Especially
the putting. Best putting lesson I've ever
had. It was taken by the pro at Anglesea.
Everyone enjoyed the day. Credit to The
SWD ladies and Anglesea GC
Just wanted
to pass on thanks not only to the SWDLGA
and WGV but also to the Anglesea Golf
Club and the 4 Pro's that helped us all
on last Monday.
The three of us from Lonsdale, Tayna, Jo
and myself all gained some great
knowledge and were very much impressed
with the overall running and outcome of
the day.
Thanks once
again

Wow, what a
day! There was so much valuable
information to be gleaned from all the
mini programs within the day's clinic.
I only hope that my grey matter can cope
with reminding me at the right times
just how to go about getting out of a
bunker, regardless of there being a
fluffy or hard sand lie, to listen for
that 'thumpt' as the stroke is made.
How to open my stance for that all
important chip to the green and how to
'come down the club' to get more control
over the shot. How to hit a longish iron
high and straight. (I have never felt so
confident in my ability to hit a seven
iron so well, ok, most of the
time). Putting will always have it's
mysteries to me I am sure it does for a
lot of us but I actually came off that
session with some great tips and
training options that I now believe I
can only get better. There were also
great lessons on just how to keep the
spine straighter, where to place the
ball in your stance, either back, centre
or forward. How to warm up effectively
(I will eventually be able to
bring that driver down my back, I am
just negotiating a price for lessons
with my local contortionist, Ha!). The
course management segment was equally
informative and whilst a lot of it makes
common sense, we do need to be reminded
of it from time to time. However, the
most important fact that came across to
me so obviously, was the fact that we
will only get better with practice and
more practice. The Mandy Buckley's,
Marilyn Clifford's, Vida Brenner's,
Glenda Deans' and Joye Burton's of our
'local world of golf' would not have
achieved anywhere near as much as they
have without PRACTICE! We all know it is
simply a matter of putting in (pardon
the pun) what you hope to get back out.
So with no further ado, It's off to the
golf course for me for an hour or two.
However, before I do, it would be remiss
of me not to mention the professional
manner in which the clinic was run on
the day. For many it would have been a
logistical nightmare but for the ladies
of SWDLGA it seemed like a walk in the
park! Well done and thank you, I cannot
wait for the next opportunity to
participate in any golfing clinic to be
held by you ladies in the future. Value
for money? You bet!
