Inverleigh would just love to see a
lot of ladies (and Men) from the district enter in our Open
Tournament (details below). In past years we have had as many
as 55 and as few as 28 (Ladies that is), the Men used to always
have 100 plus, but has dropped to as low as 50 odd in recent
years, this is sad with 8,500 golfers in this district alone.
Some of the larger Clubs would
wonder why we bother when we have so few entries, well it is a
matter of do or die.
The small clubs in this District are
all struggling and we get rather disappointed when so few
outsiders bother to come to our courses, sure we don't have
"Royal" status, nor are our courses in the same race, but we are
all golfers in the same area and the small clubs send players to
the large clubs, so a great 'Reciprocal" response would be just
wonderful.
Then comes the thought of playing on
Sand Greens - not everyone's 'cup of tea', but some who have
never even tried them out could be very pleasantly surprised.
This week at Bannockburn's Open, the Winner and Runner Up were
both from Courses that have Grass Greens, so there you go.
Apart from the fact we have Sand
Greens, the rest of the course is as good as you could expect
after several years of drought, no paid grounds people, they are
all club volunteers. The food is always well appreciated and
talked about, we pride our selves on all the home cooked meals
and goodies we serve up.
So if you have been before and were
not quite sure, please give us another try, if you have never
been before, then please come on and give it a go, you will be
so welcomed.
Friday 21st August - Ladies
Open 18 Holes Stroke. (2 Grades) $15 includes lunch
Saturday 22nd. August - Men's
Open 27 Holes Stroke (3 Grades) $20 includes lunch and
afternoon tea.
Sunday 23rd August - Mixed
Pinehurst.$20 pair includes afternoon tea.
Monday 24th. August - Men's 4BBB
Stableford and Ladies 4BBB Stableford. $20 pair includes
afternoon tea.
