THE MYRTLE COMINIE MEMORIAL TROPHY The ladies’ of St Leonards Golf Club have been most fortunate this year and have a new event on their golfing calendar “The Myrtle Cominie Memorial Trophy”. Myrtle never played golf at St Leonards but she was a great supporter of the club always donating prizes for our raffles and also a great supporter of the Good Friday Appeal held at our club each Easter. Sadly Myrtle passed away and her partner Neville Foran (our current President) approached our past captain Claire Burns and told her he would like to sponsor a trophy in Myrtle’s memory for the ladies of the club so he and Claire put their heads together and so The Myrtle Cominie Memorial Trophy golf game was established. Neville wanted to give each lady of our club a chance to play for this trophy, as some of our ladies can no longer play 18 holes it was decided between Neville and Claire that this would become an 18 hole stableford event with 9 holes being played over two days. The ladies have really enjoyed this event and supported it very well, with most of our ladies playing over the 2 days. We played this event on Tuesday and Thursday of this week over two different 9 holes on the course, because of the heat today (19/11) we all played early this morning. We would like to say to Neville and his family how grateful we are and thankyou for your generosity in sponsoring this event in memory of your partner “Myrtle”.
