On Monday the 29th of March 2010, WGV is conducting a Club Member Clinic at Victoria Golf Club.

The entry fee includes top quality coaching, use of Victoria’s exceptional short game facilities and golf course as well as a catering package (morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea).
Entries close on Friday 19th March.

Hello Captains, one and all,

Best wishes for 2010.
This email is to bring you up to date on the information that I have received from WGV that it wants captains to be aware of and pass on to club members.

Course Rating Training:
The Victorian Golf Course Rating Committee (VGCRC) has drafted dates to come out to country areas to train course raters under the USGA system. The proposed dates and locations are as follows:

·         February 21 – Ballarat
·         February 28 – Warrnambool/Port Fairy
·         March 21 – Wangaratta
·         May 30 – Sale
·         June 6 – Bendigo
·         June 20 – Horsham
·         July 11 – Mildura

The format will entail one full day’s training in the clubhouse, followed by rating of 2 courses on the Monday and Tuesday. Those attending are expected to take on the role of State Level Course Rater and must attend the Monday and Tuesday rating sessions as well as the Sunday training.
Please also get the word around that WGV and the VGA will be calling for raters in the New Year and we will advise how people can sign up in due course. Given WGV’s districts do not align to the VGA’s we expect the rating to be done in ‘areas’ rather than on a district by district basis. I.e. some women will rate courses outside their district (and the same for men).

Pre-course rating:
Your club has received a document dated November 30 which has to be returned to either WGV or VGA by July 1 2010.  A similar earlier document had to be returned by October this year.  If your club has done this then it does not have to return this later form.  WGV suggests that all clubs ask for two courses to be rated for women's events.   If you wish to get more information from WGV about which tees will be rated then contact Louise MacDonald, the Golf Manager, by email: louise@womensgolf.org.au
On the form is listed the information that you have to supply to the raters.

Australian Women's Open:
Please let your golfers know that there are spaces on the volunteers list for the Women's Australian Open at Commonwealth March 12 - 15 2010.  All information is on the WGV website.
If you would like to experience Commonwealth, a championship course in tournament condition, just four weeks prior to hosting the event then an Open Day will be held there on February 15 2010.  An entry form is attached.

Regards
Marcia
