HANDICAP CHANGES 2011
The changes to be
implemented
"As promised by Golf
Australia, we received
information at the end
of May about proposed
changes to the
Handicapping System. A
series of discussion
groups and forums with
Clubs and Member
Associations was held in
March, in conjunction
with a senior USGA
official. It was decided
that the complete USGA
system was not
appropriate for
Australian large field
net events. After an
exhaustive analysis, and
trialing of a range of
different variations at
diverse clubs across the
country, it was decided
that the following
changes will commence on
Wednesday, 21 September
2011:
* Alter ‘Best 10 of
20’ to 'Best 8 of 20’.
* Change Bonus for
Excellence multiplier
from 0.96 to 0.93.
* Introduce an Anchor
which will prevent a
player’s handicap from
increasing any more than
4 strokes beyond their
best exact handicap from
the previous 12 month
rolling period.
*
Golf Link will cap the
score that goes into a
player’s handicap record
at no more than the
following amount over
the course rating: - 50
– women, 40 – men.
Take note that the
Golf Link system will be
down from 1.00pm on
Monday 19 September
until Wednesday 21
September to
implement these
changes."
