HISTORY:

Miss Betty Kernot was elected President of SWDGA in 1962 and Patron in 1963 in recognition of her valuable contribution to our District. In 1971 she suggested a Scratch Foursome event, which would be a prestigious competition for our District Players only. The Executive in her honour named this event the Betty Kernot Scratch Foursomes
            The two essential conditions were:
1         A minimum and maximum handicap, and,
2         Exclusion of members who played Pennant in another District or Metropolitan Pennant.

Miss Kernot won the Australian Championship twice, and as a member of three golf clubs she won many Club Championships and six SWDGA titles; She captained Victorian Interstate Teams and won a VLGU Laurel Wreath Brooch.
