Gatehouse Award
In 1972,
members of the Gatehouse Family made a donation to the then
ALGU to create a Fund for the encouragement of junior
golfers in Australia, in memory of Mrs J Austin Gatehouse,
who, during her lifetime, was a prominent golfer and
administrator at State and National level. Mrs Gatehouse won
three Australian Amateur Championships, five Victorian
Amateur Championships, and was the Victorian Ladies’ Golf
Union President from 1929-1935 and then again in 1943 and in
1946.
"The Gatehouse Award is presented to the junior girl in
each state who is considered to have made the greatest
contribution to the sport. Commitment, dedication and
personal achievements are considered but also important is
the player's contribution to her community, club, district
or State Association"
The
