VICKY UWLAND JUNIOR BRACELET - ROUND 4
EAST GEELONG GOLF CLUB
13 NOVEMBER, 2011
CONGRATULATIONS
MEREDITH PLUMMER
WINNER OF THE BRACELET FOR 2011
The 4th and final round of the 2011 SWDLGA Vicky Uwland
Junior Bracelet was contested at East Geelong Golf
Club with the bracelet being awarded to Meredith
Plummer. Meredith of Portarlington Golf Club
(handicap of 34) won with an aggregate of 109
stableford points, her three best rounds being at
Portarlington (43 points), Winchelsea (30 points)
and East Geelong (36 points).
Reshae Armstrong
was a close second for the Bracelet with 107 points
and Katharine Bunting (handicap 5) scored
very well over the series with three rounds despite
her reduced golfing schedule due to her year 12
studies.
Meredith
also won the event of the day with 36 stableford
points. Runner-up for the event of the day was
Katharine Bunting (5) who won on a count back
from Reshae Armstrong (34) of Bannockburn
Golf Club and Holly Kilmartin (36) of Torquay
Golf Club. The nearest-the-pin (17th
hole) was won by Alice Caddy (Apollo Bay).
The girls were joined by Grace Campagnolo of Clifton Springs
for 9 holes. Grace is a promising golfer and I hope
Grace enjoyed the experience.
As always these events require co-operation and help from a number
of people – thank you to the team at East Geelong
Golf Club for the use of the course and their
facilities, and for accommodating every request.
Thanks again President Sue for doing your
presidential job impeccably. I am also, as always,
grateful for the help and assistance of members of
South Western’s committee – thanks Bev Gillett, Lyn
Anne, Joye Burton, Ros Thornton.
We very much appreciate Vicky Thomas (Uwland) taking time out of
the schedule to join us for the presentation.
This group of juniors has a dedicated band of parents. Thank you
all. Without dedicated parents we don’t have the
girls attending our events.
Thanks Joye for the ‘Juniors 2011’ slide show and Sue I am sure the
girls love their calendars – perfect for remembering
all the South Western junior events, and perfect for
inserting all the Victorian junior events, and of
course their homework timetable!
This was the final event for 2011. Enjoy Christmas and girls check
your calendars for the next event which is the
junior championship in February 2012.
FAREWELL KATHARINE
This was also the final junior event for Katharine Bunting who is
now a grand lady of 18 and must leave us. I have
been junior organiser for only a brief period and
therefore only a small proportion of Katharine’s
junior golfing career, but I have learnt that
Katharine is a loved and very much respected member
of the junior crew. She will be missed by everyone.
MINKES
This was the final minke event of the year too. Three girls battled
it out for fun and prizes. They played six modified
holes. Congratulations Sophie for winning longest
drive (I saw that one and a few others were pretty
good too). Congratulations Caitlin for your great 4th
hole and congratulations Holly on scoring so many
stableford points and having such a good round. And
thanks to Tess for being a great caddy.
