As you are
Skirting the Fairways have you
Ever wondered?

EVER WONDERED………………………

As we begin our 77th year as the South Western District Ladies Golf Association Inc and look forward to the years ahead, have you ever wondered why, how, when…we are, as members of our clubs, affiliated with Women’s Golf Victoria and the South Western District Ladies Golf Association enjoy one of the most vibrant and exciting golf calendars of all the districts…Because your District committee does it

Ever wondered how we play the most fiercely contested Pennant, with 7 divisions on Friday, Sunday (for working women, students and juniors) and an Interclub Matchplay… Because your District committee organises it

Ever wondered how we can play on a variety of courses for a very low cost and play for substantial trophies…Because your District committee works all the logistics of obtaining courses and formalising the draws

Ever wondered how we get a syllabus where most clubs wishes for their Bowls, Charity days etc are all coordinated to avoid clashes and to maximize participation…Because your District committee cares enough to do it

Ever wondered how we contest the District Championship, June Gillivour Trophy (B Grade) and the Margaret Smith Trophy (C Grade) every year…Because your District arranges it

Ever wondered why we hold Captain’s seminars, clinics for women and juniors, run a District Merit Award to encourage participation in club events as well as visit your club for rules talks if required, and are happy to support your club golf committees if and when needed…Because your District committee is determined to make South Western the best and most informed District in Victoria

Ever wondered why we have the most informative Website of any Men’s or Ladies Associations…Because a Life Member of your District runs it and developed not only our website but the men’s website as well

76 years ago, some likeminded women decided to improve ladies golf in the region, and they gave us what we love and enjoy today – 24 incorporated clubs in the South Western District, all equally important

The South Western District Ladies Golf Association runs your golf for you with amazing enthusiasm and outstanding results. All committee members are available at any time to answer your questions, assist Captains and Presidents and lady golfers in all manner of ways

The Committee of 13 is dedicated to giving its affiliated members the best possible conditions under which to play, dedicated to improving the standard of women’s golf, dedicated to teaching, encouraging and organising. They give their time freely, and are very proud of their Association and its achievements. Being involved with District committee and contributing to the everyday running of an extremely successful Association, is a most rewarding experience and ladies are asked to consider the possibility of joining future Committees and continuing to foster golf administration in our region

Ever wondered how it all comes together year after year?

Next time you play in a District event and pay a minimal entry fee ask yourself, who organised all this, who set the draw, who obtained the course, who supplies the trophies…….THAT WOULD BE THE COMMITTEE OF SOUTH WESTERN DISTRICT LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION……WORKING FOR YOU
